How to Prepare Your Backyard For Summer

Summer is quickly approaching. It’s time for barbecues and pool parties. However, your backyard might not be ready for any of those occasions after a winter of hibernation. It’s important to prepare ahead of time especially if you live somewhere warm like Austin, Pittsburgh or Los Angeles.

Prepare Your Pool

Your pool will be the hot spot for any summer party or gathering. It needs to be in top shape. Brush the leaves off your pool cover and search “automatic pool cleaners Pittsburgh,” or whichever town you live in so that your pool can clean itself. It will leave you plenty of time to prepare the rest of your yard. Stock up on pool noodles, floats and water guns to ensure fun times for the family.

Break Out the Outdoor Furniture

If you’ve been storing your furniture in a shed or garage, it’s time to start bringing it out again. However, if it’s been sitting outside all winter, it will need to be cleaned. Patio chairs, tables, grills and playgrounds will have accumulated dirt, leaves and storm damage. If any furniture is damaged beyond repair, check out your local furniture stores, garage sales or online venues to buy new pieces.

Decorate Your Yard

Aside from the furniture, there will be other parts of your yard that need to be spruced up. Hire a landscaper to mow and maintain the grass, trees and shrubs. If you enjoy gardening, plant some flowers and vegetables to add appeal to your yard. If you plan on throwing any parties, decorate your yard with party favors. If you’re throwing a Fourth of July party, buy red, white and blue balloons and streamers. Deck out your backyard with leis and tiki light fixtures for a luau.

After all the hard work that you put into preparing your backyard for the summer, you deserve to enjoy it. Throw a Memorial Day party or relax by the pool.
